Just like Google Plus, Facebook does have a real name policy, meaning that, at least in theory, the name you must use on the site has to be your real name (it’s in the Terms of Service, under Registration and Account Security). The fact that the site doesn’t really do much to make sure that rule is obeyed by all of its users is another story. I totally understand it....
I’ve updated to it and have to admit that the app starts much faster, photos load faster (without that annoying loading delay we all had gotten so used to) and friends’ timelines open faster, too. Photos actually open the instant you tap on them, which is a major plus. First download and install G+ Notifier. Installation is basic following the wizard. After G+ Notifier is installed, choose if you want automatic updates and the way it notifies you. Click OK. Next, log into your Google account. G+ Notifier lives in your system tray. When a Google+ notifications come in, you’ll see the icon change to the number of messages you have waiting. To get started, install the Panic Button extension for Chrome. The PanicButton icon appears next to the Chrome address bar. To hide all tabs, click the PanicButton icon and it hides all the tabs and will turn green. It also displays the number of tabs hidden. Click on it again to reopen all of the tabs. Being a long-time Google Docs user, I’ve always thought Google has done a great in the area of Sharing. With this latest release, Google has gone one step further making the Share button even more streamlined and intuitive than before. Previously in Google Docs when you Clicked Share it displayed a drop-menu with four different options on it. The new local tab shows up on the left-side of the Google+ interface. Google+ will automatically bring up local recommendations based on your geo-location determined area. For the most part, only Zagat rated shops will show up. But, if someone from your friends list has written a review it will show up there as well. If you aren’t familiar with Zagat ratings, they work on a scale from 0 to 30....

This first “gift” is a treat for webmasters using Google Analytics (Google’s website stats service) and iGoogle (Google’s personalized homepage). Dropbox and Sugarsync beware, the Google empire is expanding into the desktop synced cloud storage realm. Last month a leaked screenshot revealed plans for the service. Analysts are predicting that Google Drive is set to be available at drive.google.com as soon as next week, possibly on the 24th. Facebook in Pidgin IM First, make sure you have a username on Facebook. You can find this by logging into your Facebook account and go to Account Settings » General Account Settings » Username. If you haven’t created a Facebook username yet, type in one that’s available. Pidgin is my favorite IM client. It lets you consolidate multiple IM services in one program.
