ASUS unveiled its Padfone 2 in Milan, Italy. The concept is the same — an Android smartphone with a dockable tablet, but the specs are much better. The screen of the smartphone is 720p IPS at 720 x 1280 pixels, which is a higher resolution display than the first Padfone which was 540 x 960. We normally focus on Freeware software and services, but I enjoy using Ghost Control enough to show it. It’s Shareware, meaning it’s not free. It costs $35 but does have a free trial from the download page. Ghost Control’s interface is one of the simplest I’ve seen. All I’ve ever really wanted out of life is to be able to edit documents with Google Docs and save them to my Dropbox folder. When CyanogenMod was first getting started, the development team was in need of a domain. One of the team members, who is named Ahmet, volunteered to buy the cyanogenmod.com domain to serve as the rom’s development headquarters. This arrangement continued on for several years, with Ahmet maintaining ownership of the domain while it was in use by the rest of the CyanogenMod developer team. However at some point in recent months Steve Kondik, lead developer at CyanogenMod, discovered that Ahmet was secretly using the website for his own personal profit via referral deals....
Earlier this week Yahoo trimmed it’s workforce laying off roughly 600 employees. Following the layoffs are more changes, and it seems Yahoo doesn’t know what to do with itself so they’re taking a cut-n-run approach. The Delicious social bookmarking site will be closing in the next few months, followed by other Yahoo services. It has been 5 years since Yahoo acquired Delicious from the developer Joshua Schachter, when I first saw news of the acquisition I was excited because I thought Yahoo would take it to new heights....
