What did Google do, exactly? Well, according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, quoting a person familiar with the matter, Google used cookies that went over Safari’s tracking blocker preferences in order to track users between sites and deliver them targeted advertising. Google (of course) denied any wrongdoing in a statement, saying that the FTC’s focus was on a 2009 help center page, which has been changed since. It’s also said that it had taken measures to remove the ad cookies, and that the cookies didn’t collect personal information....

However, Google has decided that its users aren’t using the launcher, and prefer to launch apps from within Chrome. So, according to Google, the launcher will no longer be enabled when users first install a Chrome desktop app. According to the company, this is an effort to help emphasize simplicity and streamline the browser features. The removal process will take place over the next several months. Once it is removed, you’ll still have two methods to launch the apps....

I personally don’t use Google Sites (not a fan) however I am a fan of keyboard shortcuts. If you share my love for shortcut keys, you might be interested in the fact that Google just upgraded Google Sites to include Keyboard Shortcuts. If your not a fan, simply disable keyboard shortcuts in the settings page. As groovy as the service was at launch, this week Google improved the service by adding a new feature that lets you find hotels based on travel time from a specific location. For example, let’s say you want to spend a long weekend in the worlds best city – Seattle (I know.. just stay with me on this one) and you have no plans to rent a car. Hotel Finder makes it simple to find a hotel within walking distance of a local attraction like the Seattle Space Needle....

Earlier this week Microsoft announced it is rolling out a new and improved Outlook.com beta. The company promises a faster experience and other new features like improved search. The beta is an opt-in web experience and is rolling out to users over the next several weeks.
