Export Outlook 2013 Calendar Data

First open your desktop version of Outlook and open the Calendar. Then click the File tab and select Save Calendar.

That will open File Explorer and you can save your calendar as an ICS file to a convenient location. But before you continue, make sure to click More Options since we’re moving the entire calendar.

Now you can either select specific date ranges or the whole calendar. Keep in mind that exporting the entire calendar will include past events as well.

Next go log in to your Outlook.com account and open the Calendar.

Then from the top menu bar select Import.

Now browse to the ICS file you saved and from here you have a few options you can choose. You can import it into a new or existing calendar, give it a name and color, and decide how you want to use the reminders – either the ones already in the ICS file or use defaults. Then click Import.

Wait while the calendar is imported (the amount of time it takes will vary) and it will show the existing reminders you have as busy for the time you’ve selected in the Outlook 2013 calendar. It’s also worth mentioning that you can display events and reminders from multiple calendars. Maybe you have a personal calendar and one for work. Just click on Options (gear icon) and check the calendar’s you want to include in the view.

I’ve been a long time traditional desktop Outlook user – old IT habits are sometimes hard to break. I am trying to switch to Outlook.com full time, but currently I don’t think it’s where I need it to be. But hey, it’s free and might be all you need to keep track of your email and calendar events. Leave a comment below and tell us about it. Thanks for the post. I’m trying to understand syncing multiple desktop calendars via outlook.com. If I import a calendar via .ics file will it sync to my Outlook desktop calendar, or do I have to manually update calendars in outlook.com. Syncing is the critical feature for me so I can access and work with multiple desktop calendars via mobile (outlook.com app). Thanks! Comment Name * Email *
