Yesterday I explained how to score a copy of Office 2010 on the cheap or even free, and today I have another groovyDeal for college students! Microsoft this week upgraded its Educational Student discount program from Office 2007 to Microsoft Office Professional Academic 2010. The Office Pro Academic 2010 Suite includes:
Word 2010Excel 2010PowerPoint 2010OneNote 2010Outlook 2010Access 2010Publisher 2010
Unfortunately, it looks like Microsoft also “Upgraded” the price tag also. Instead of being just $59.99 like it was for Office 2007, the new College Student Discount is $79.95. Granted $80 is better than $500 so this is still a groovyDeal for sure.
How To Get The Office 2010 Student Discount
- First, you need to make sure you’re eligible. It’s very likely you’re eligible if you have a .edu address, although even that isn’t necessary – it just speeds things up, a lot. Here are the official requirements:
- Visit the Microsoft Student Office site and place the order! The suite is available via direct digital download, or you can request a DVD (a $13 service charge applies to DVD orders.) Each .edu email address can purchase up to 3 licenses at the $79.95 price, but if you’ve already bought the student discount Windows 7 that does count as 1 of your 3. Although it’s not Office, you get pretty much EVERYTHING else out there all for FREE. I’ve not read up on Dreamspark for a few months (since writing the article) so you should take a look and see if Office is included now??? Anyway, Windows 7 and Office might not be included BUT, just use Server 2008 as your desktop OS using all the Windows 7 drivers on your laptop etc… and you should be groovin. I would think you should get an email with your license via email…? Another thing you should check out is the DREAMSPARK plan. I just posted it here: https://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/high-school-college-students-free-software-dreamspark/ I read this comment and tried to think of options for you. Here you can get some free software way above and beyond just Office (however Office is not included…..). Hopefully this gives you a few options. Thanks -S Comment Name * Email *
